When purchasing a home, it takes a lot of research and also clear thought before you make the decision to purchase a house and purchasing a Cyprus house is no different than any other.  In fact there can be several considerations with this real estate purchase. with the beautiful and rich history of this island surrounded by the most beautiful Mediterranean and the beautiful views of the mountains.

The craftsmanship of the old and solid construction shows its self in the many buildings from the past as well as monasteries and churches, there are even many of the villages from the past that are being unearthed and open for public viewing.  The beautiful island of Cyprus has been known all through history as the crossroads of Europe, Asia and Africa.
This island has been under many different rules, the Phoenicians, the Assyrians, the Egyptians, the Persians, the Romans, the Crusaders, the Venetians, the Ottomans, the British as well as the Greeks. It has been said

that the disciples of Christ walked this spectacular island, among the villages and even visited the churches and monasteries.

In the sixth centur BC Cyprus had been conquered by Amasis of Egypt, after which it soon fell under Persian rule after Cambyses conquered Egypt. Later it fell to Egyptian rule and in 58-57 the Christian Apostles Paul of Tarsus, and St. Mark visited BC to Rome, Cyprus in 45 AD. Cyprus became a part of the Byzantine Empire for nearly eight hundred years, during this time many of the churches that exist today were built and can still be visited.
In several ways the traditions and customs of old are kept in tact if not in every day life then in the festivals that are held to reach back in time and retrace the historical steps of the past.

Many things should be looked at when purchasing a house, such as is it structurally sound, what about the electric, the roof, as well as the heating and cooling system. These are some of the many things that should be investigated. However, when purchasing a house on Cyprus there are also other things to consider such as if you are going to be living here year round or will it be a home that is reserved only for the holiday. Is this a house that will be an investment or is it a house that will stay in a family for many generations.
If it is to be lived in year round what needs to be taken into account is if the buyer is not retired will they need to buy a house in a location that is convenient to some of the places of employment or to where they will locate their business, and another consideration is will they need to be near transportation or any other amenities that will lend themselves to the persons ability to earn a living.

If the person or family that is buying a house on Cyprus is retired or works from home the island is theirs to do as they wish, they have the ability to live in one of the rural villages and also have the ability to live in one of the populated busy villages, on the beautiful sea or secluded in the mountains.

The past is so rich in historical sites and new sites are being unearthed and reconstructed or restored all the time that the few cool and rainy days that are found on the island are a perfect time to visit these wondrous and exciting sites.

newspaper that is called Cyprus Today that is conveniently published in English.

Cyprus joins the European Union

Cyprus also joined the European Union and has become involved in trade, enjoying importing and exporting with many countries including ones like the United States which they export many items like shoes, clothing and even dairy, and import tobacco products as well as other items. They also have yearly trade festivals where dinners are held for each country that is present to show their new items they are willing to export.

As of the first of January of this year the Euro became the recognized currency of the country, this in its self changes the prospect of purchasing a home in Cyprus,there is no longer a need for the potential buyers to be concerned with an exchange rate.

On Cyprus there are two international airports which service the island, located in Larnaca and Paphos, offering daily connections to several other European
destinations, the Middle East and other destinations.
As being one of the third largest islands Cyprus is known to many to offer only   health care with up-to-date hospitals and private clinics throughout the island to care for every type of medical treatment that could be needed as well as any emergencies that could happen.
